Street Teams work with children and young people at risk of, and affected by, sexual exploitation, grooming and trafficking. We work with boys as well as girls, some as young as 8 years old and from all backgrounds. We aim to break the cycle of abuse, by helping the young person to fully understand their situation and realise that they are able to make choices. We run various programmes, dependent on the young person’s level of vulnerability and emotional damage

Barnardo's Birmingham Space Project

Birmingham Space is a service for children and young people who are abused or vulnerable to abuse through sexual exploitation. Birmingham Space works directly with abused children and young people to develop strategies that will enable them to move towards a safer and more settled lifestyle. Work is also undertaken with children and young people who are vulnerable, to reduce the risk of abuse through sexual exploitation. Birmingham Space provides presentations and training to adults working with children, to increase awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding child sexual exploitation, in order that vulnerable or abused children can be identified and appropriate interventions can be supported. Birmingham Space can provide preventative programmes in schools and youth settings to explore risk and vulnerability, define the difference between abusive and loving relationships, and raise awareness of how children can be targeted and exploited by adults.

Barnardos Bristol BASE

Bristol BASE Project (Barnardo’s Against Sexual Exploitation) works with young people who are at risk of sexual exploitation or who are being sexually exploited. We offer practical help to young people to help them deal with immediate difficulties they face. We then support young people to think about their lives and the relationships and situations they face, so that they make better decisions to keep themselves safer and healthier. Bristol BASE supports young women and girls, young men and boys. We also provide advice and information to young people who run away from home. Young people do not have to have contact with a BASE worker - they choose to see their worker.

Barnardos Missing Service, Kirklees

The Barnardo's Missing Service works with young people at their point of return from going missing. We work with those aged 10 to 16 years who live with at home with parent/s and those aged 10 to 18 who are looked after. We work in partnership with Police, Social Care and Health. We offer a confidential service to young people when they return home or to their care base. We are a young people focused service. Our aim is to explore risks and to look at strategies for keeping young people safe. We know that going missing can be linked with risks of sexual exploitation or offending. Our service is short term, which could include family work, parent/ carer support, crisis intervention, advocacy or a volunteer for a listening and support service. We will also offer to support young people to access services and resources they feel are appropriate for them.

Barnardos R-U Safe / Sexual Exploitation and Missing Service?

R.U.Safe? works from the premise that young people under the age of 18 who are being sexually exploited, are being abused. The service aims to reach out to vulnerable young people by providing a Holistic package of care delivered through Assertive outreach, drop-ins and preventative groups/programmes. The service works with young people to promote safety, healthy relationships, reduce risky behaviour, increased self worth and self-esteem, so as to raise their aspirations and enable them into making positive choices for the future. Our work also involves encouraging and supporting young people in exiting harmful relationships, to which they can fall extremely vulnerable to. Our direct work includes, but not limited to, a range of activities, programmes and opportunities that assist in addressing their diverse and complex needs. We have a client centred approach and each young person will be assessed on their individual circumstances. We work closely with Thames Valley Police so as to provide a service to Young people, aged between 11 to 18 who have returned home after being reported missing. - Young People who have missing episodes are vulnerable to Sexual Exploitation.

Barnardos Safer Choices Glasgow

Blackburn ENGAGE

Engage is a new multi agency group that has been launched to tackle sexual exploitation of young people in Blackburn with Darwen. It is the successor to Operation Engage, a police led campaign that ran for two years to work with young and vulnerable people considered to be at risk of being sexually exploited while missing from home. Engage is a multi-agency, co-located team made up of partners from the voluntary and statutory sector that comes together to safeguard children and families at risk of sexual exploitation. Buddy Me Project, Asphaleia Action

Buddy Me project (BM) funded by Comic Relief aims to reduce the number of trafficked young people falling into the hands of criminal traffickers to be exploited through slavery and prostitution. Our mission To improve the lives of primary school children with behavioural difficulties who are at risk of developing anti-social or criminal behaviour in the future. How we achieve it We do this by providing tailored one-to-one mentoring with a carefully screened, trained and supervised volunteer mentor. Our mentors raise children's self esteem via activities such as sports, visiting museums, making scrapbooks...anything the child may be interested in. We work in a solution-focused way, so our mentors and staff focus on the child's strengths and what they do well, rather than their negative behaviour. Many of the children we work with are on the verge of being permanently excluded from school. This is frequently the start point for anti-social and later criminal behaviour in a young person's life, and our early intervention work prevents this progression. We work closely with local schools to improve life for the child, their family and their classmates.

Investigations Support Unit (ISU) Liverpool City Council

Izzy’s Promise

Izzy’s Promise is a charity organisation (SCO 33706) based in Dundee, Scotland (UK). We offer free confidential support service for men and women ritual/organised abuse survivors, aimed at relieving their mental and physical distress. London Youth at Risk has two current projects: Greenwich Missing – working with 13-16 year olds at risk or going missing or running away in Greenwich borough. We deliver 1:1 support work directly to the young people and Family Mediation work to the young person and/or parent/carer, these sessions can be accessed either by the young person only by the parent/carer only or by both parties. We also deliver workshops in schools in Greenwich and Community Events around risks and response with runaways. Greenwich Missing trains young people and adults who live in Greenwich as Community Trainers who then co-facilitate the workshops/events. Safe Choices Leaving Custody & Leaving Care – works with young women at risk of or have committed serious youth violence age 15 – 21years old often affiliated to gangs or groups. The service is for young women leaving custody or at risk of custody and young women who are leaving care. We work in partnership with nia – ending violence to deliver Safe Choices Practitioner Training which is a 3 day training course and comes at a cost. We work in all London Boroughs with young women leaving custody and in 6 London boroughs for leaving care. The boroughs in 2012-2013 are Lambeth, Southwark, Greenwich, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. Each Borough worked in will in addition have a ½ day training course delivered free of charge to pass on our knowledge and skills once we leave the borough. London Youth at Risk specialises in sexual exploitation, missing/runaways and gang affiliation feeding into national consultations and delivering training to professionals.

Child sexual exploitation can ruin children’s lives. But it doesn’t just impact on its victims – it affects parents, siblings and the wider family unit too. If you have recently found out that your child is being sexually exploited, or you suspect your child is being sexually exploited, you should contact Pace at www.paceuk.info or call them on 0113 240 3040. They will help you assess the level of risk your child faces and supply you with information on how best to work in partnership with police and social care. Pace recognises parents as valuable resources in tackling child sexual exploitation, and will advise you on how to log information on the perpetrators and gather evidence. Pace also offers emotional support through one-to-one telephone support and a national befriender scheme, as discovering your child’s sexual exploitation can be a very frightening and isolating experience. Pace has worked with over 600 families in England during the last 16 years, so you are not alone. Pace was set up by an affected parent in 1996, under the name of CROP (Coalition for the Removal of Pimping). Since then, Pace has influenced national and local policy and practice to reflect the active safeguarding role of parents, and to highlight the impact of child sexual exploitation on families. It seeks to sustain long term change by training partners in how to work more effectively with parents.

We are a project who provides a bespoke 1:1 service to help children and young people who either are at risk from or who are running away from home or care, and have a parent support worker to support parents of these children. We work with children between the ages of 6 – 17 and meet with them following a referral from GMP, Social Care, parents and carers, Schools or Health. In fact anyone who meets are criteria can be referred by anyone into our service. We are a confidential service and will meet where the young people are comfortable sometimes this can be home school or anywhere they feel relaxed. Streetwise Project /The Lilith Project (Eaves Women's Aid)

Streetwise is a project developed and run by the Lilith Project in partnership with Beatbullying, a national charity campaigning and working with young people in schools to stop bullying. The referral process to AWARE is through Social Care as safeguarding is at the heart of the project. * By engaging on AWARE young people will develop a greater understanding of healthy and unhealthy relationships, peer pressure, emotional literacy, risky and protective behaviours, personal safety and future goals. * The aim of the Project is to reduce the number of young people affected by CSE, readdressing the balance of power and putting the young person back in control of their lives.

The Men's Room

The Mens' Room is an arts and social care agency. We aim to work creatively with men and offer them opportunities to be involved in high quality artistic projects along side providing support for issues that they may have in their lives. The Men's Room run two creative sessions weekly, WMD which is for young men with experience fo homelessness and/or the criminal justice system and The Blue Room which is for young men involved in sex work or vulnerable to sexual exploitation. All of these sessions have input from both an artistic and social care angle. The Men's Room offer support in several ways through our weekly Drop in, which is staffed by both Mens’ Room staff and partner agencies who can offer help and support with housing, sexual and mental health,drug and alcohol use and other issues. We also run two weekly outreach sessions in order to engage with young men on the sex work beat and raise awareness of support available. Our support and development worker also offers one-to-one support and a referral system to other agencies. We also offer training to other organisations, particularly focussed on engaging creatively with young men.

The Young Persons Drug Service

The young persons drug service provides treatment to young people under the age of 25 yrs in Luton who are using drugs.
